Social MinistryImmanuel's Social Ministry Team is charged with extending Christian compassion and helpfulness to the ill, the aged, the orphaned, the underprivileged, the imprisoned, and, in general, to persons of all ages in need of aid in body and soul. The Team strives to enlist as many people as possible from the congregation in these efforts. The Team is to study social conditions, primarily in the local community, in order to bring the cleansing and healing light of Christ's truth to bear upon critical problems through thoughtful discussion, and action upon, facts and issues relating to social needs and justice.
2009 Blanket AppealThe Social Ministry Team is making its Church World Service Blankets for the Heart appeal just in time for Valentine's Day! Blankets have several uses in poverty stricken lands including shelter halves, luggage, outer clothing, as well as traditional warmth at sleeping time. A $5.00 donation represents one blanket. Paper hearts purchased in memory or honor of someone will be available to pin to the CWS Blanket in the narthex after each service each weekend in February. The Social Ministry Team is happy to report that the generous members of Immanuel & friends contributed $850 during the February appeal, approximately 170 blankets!
2009 Month of Weekends AppealThe Social Ministry Team wishes to raise money to support programs and services of disAbility Connections. Please be generous and give in the envelopes provided.
