Memorial Team

Memorial Team

All of the undertakings of this team are discussed with the different Immanuel teams and the families that are involved. The memorials with less funds may be combined with others when the need arises. All of the information are in the Memorial Books, which are located in the library.

We thank Enid Pullis for her many years of chair of this team and thank her for a job well done.

2009 Happenings

Is there a need for a Columbarium at our church?

A Columbarium is a structure that would be on our church property with niches (spaces) that would hold cremains of those who choose that form of internment.

The current trend for cremation is about 50% of burials and the costs are considerably less.

We will need sufficient interest to make this a self-paying project. Funding will be provided through pre-sales of niches and would not affect our regular church budget.

We will have informational meetings on the following days:

  • Saturday, September 19th following the Saturday Praise Service (7:15 p.m.)
  • Sunday, September 20th, between services ( 9:50 a.m.)
  • Thursday, September 24th at 7:00 p.m.
  • 2008 Happenings

    1. The funeral banner was altered and is now available for use.
    2. Reserved seating signs were purchased and in use.
    3. Paid for Stephen Ministry registration.
    4. Used Virginia Miller funds for quilt making fleece. The balance of that memorial went to Lutheran Social Services of Michigan (LSSM).
    5. Discussion of enhancement of bell tower. We are waiting for an architect to give suggestions.
    6. Discussion of automatic (handicap) door opener for front doors. Many questions as to practicality and maintenance of this item. Referred to Property Team for input.
    7. A sound system has been requested and is being researched.
    8. Suggestion of a Memorial Garden on our church property. Three team members have toured local churches with those gardens.
    9. Still considering lighting of the front statue now that the city has denied our request for a lighted sign.

We give thanks and remember those of us who have departed this life in 2008. If you have suggestions for our memorial funds please contact a Team member. We welcome new members and meet bimonthly.
