Communion at Immanuel

Holy Communion is a sacred gift from God by which we are reassured of the forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life which we have through Christ. In the celebration of Holy Communion, we believe the Risen Lord is truly present and gives himself in the bread and wine, His precious body and blood. It is not to be received lightly but should be received only by those who are truly sorry for their sins and thus are ready to receive the bread and wine. Let each one examine his or her life and be ready to receive with joy this wonderful sacrament.
We celebrate open communion here at Immanuel. All Baptized persons who affirm our Lord's presence in the meal are welcome to the Lord's Table.

We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion at every worship service.
Children who have not yet communed or received communion instruction and all others not receiving communion are invited to come forward. Please approach the altar with folded hands to receive Christ's blessing through the Pastor.

Sunday Communion at Immanuel

Please check the communion box on the friendship pad when you sign your name if you intend to receive communion. If you are unable to come to the altar to receive communion, please inform one of the ushers. The pastor will bring the communion to you after all have been served.
All communicants are to cross their hands with palm side up so that the wafer may be placed in the hand. Please take a glass from the tray when offered (wine - purple, grape juice - white). Place the empty glass in the tray held by the acolyte and return to your seat. There will be one blessing after all have communed.

Saturday Communion at Immanuel

Please sign the sheet of paper on the table in the Narthex. If you are unable to come to the altar to receive communion, please inform the pastor or the assistant. The pastor will bring the communion to you after all have been served.
All communicants are to cross their hands with palm side up so that the wafer may be placed in the hand. We use intinction at the Saturday service. Dip your wafer into the wine while receiving the blessing, if you drop your wafer into the cup, you may request another wafer. There will be one blessing after all have communed.

Communion for shut-ins

About 16 years ago, three women were installed to bring communion to Immanuel members who are home bound. These women have faithfully continued this service.
