Director of Christian EducationNaomi Drake has been Director of Christian Education for Immanuel since 1997. In this role, she serves the congregation by facilitating present programs such as Sunday School for all ages, Bible Studies, Children's activities and directing Vacation Bible School (VBS). She also helps to develop new activities for Christian Education. Naomi had been Immanuel's organist since 1994; she also directs three children's choirs. Naomi is married to Art and is the daughter of a retired ELCA pastor. She is a graduate of Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Her hobbies are gardening, canning, and counted cross-stitch. Vision of Christian EducationWe need to diligently study Scripture. This is our vision of Christian Education here at Immanuel.Sunday Church SchoolAkaloo is what we are using for our Sunday Church School curriculum- its focus is forming disciples of Jesus-whether you are 3 years old, 30 or 80. It also has a component that provides resources for faith formation in the home, again for all ages.Upcoming Christian Education Events-GraduationThere are nine of Immanuel's church family graduating from high school this year! They and their parents will be honored at worship services the weekend of May 17th.
Christian Education HelpersOn Sunday, May 17th we will recognize all those members who volunteer their time in the education ministry at Immanuel. This includes Sunday School teachers and helpers, Confirmation guides, Bible study leaders and Vacation Bible School and Day Camp leaders. The recognition will take place during both worship services on that day. Keep the education ministries of our church in your prayers and give thanks for the many volunteers who make it all happen.
ConfirmationOn Sunday, May 31st we will celebrate the Rite of Confirmation at our 9:30 worship service. After two years of study, three of our young people will affirm their Baptism and celebrate another milestone in their faith life. Please keep these young people and their families in your prayers.
Summer Education at ImmanuelMidweek Bible Study will be held on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm from June 17 through September 2. These studies will focus on the Gospel readings from Mark and will assist Pastor Erick and Vicars Michelle & Paul with their preaching this summer.
